Spravato® (Esketamine)

REMS-certified Spravato® for treatment-resistant depression

A certified treatment center for esketamine, delivered in monitored, in-office sessions alongside your oral antidepressant.

Overview

When depression has not responded to standard antidepressants, Spravato® (esketamine) can be an option. We are a REMS-certified treatment center, which means we are authorized to administer esketamine under the program required by the FDA. Treatment happens in our office under clinical monitoring, and you continue taking an oral antidepressant alongside it.

Who it is for

  • Adults with treatment-resistant depression, defined as inadequate response to two or more antidepressants
  • Adults with major depressive disorder who have acute suicidal ideation or behavior, as part of a broader treatment plan
  • Patients able to attend monitored, in-office sessions and arrange transportation home

REMS program disclosure

Spravato® is available only through a restricted program called the Spravato REMS because of the risks of sedation, dissociation, and the potential for abuse and misuse. Patients must be enrolled and treated at a certified center like ours.

Do not drive after treatment

After each session you must not drive or operate machinery until the next day, after a full night of sleep. Arrange transportation home before your appointment. Plan for a ride for every session.

Questions

Frequently asked

Am I eligible for Spravato?

Spravato is for adults with treatment-resistant depression (failure of at least two antidepressants) or MDD with acute suicidal ideation. An evaluation confirms eligibility and reviews your history.

How long is each visit?

Plan for the treatment plus a two-hour monitored observation period afterward. You will be in the office for the full monitoring window.

Do I stop my other antidepressant?

No. Spravato is used together with an oral antidepressant. We coordinate the full plan with your prescriber.

Why do I need a ride home?

Esketamine can cause sedation and dissociation, so you cannot drive after a session. You must arrange transportation and avoid driving until the following day.

Is this the same as a ketamine infusion?

No. Spravato (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray delivered under a REMS program. It is a distinct, regulated treatment.
